Welcome to the home page of my amateur astronomy services. I hope you find something here that's useful.
This is a script and all the diagrams you'll need to present a talk about the zodiac and the ecliptic constellations. It can also be used for self-education.
A solar system ephemeris is a list of solar system objects — the Sun, Moon, and the planets — and their positions in the sky as seen from a certain place at a certain time.
There are two explanatory pages:
A planetary and lunar elongation calendar is a chart which shows the elongation (angular distance) of the Moon and planets from the Sun for each day of a year. Specifically, it shows the angular distance and direction from the Sun of the naked-eye planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) and the Moon. It provides a quick and easy way to determine the visibility of these celestial objects.
There are two explanatory pages:
This is an analysis of the following astronomical statement in The DaVinci Code:
"... Venus traced a perfect pentacle across the ecliptic sky every eight years."
There is a subsidiary page describing the synodic period of Venus:
Information about the brightest stars in the sky and how many stars there are in each brightness category.
Information about the constellations.
